September news

September 29th, 2009

It is hard to believe that September has come and gone.  The kids have worked very hard to get into somewhat of a routine, and learn new third grade procedures.  We are moving right along with the Everyday Math program, and they have all done VERY well with their math journals!  I am very proud of their progress.  It is nice to see them putting in a good effort on both whole group work and individual tasks.  We have also made great progress in reading.  We have focused on the “First 20 days of Reader’s Workshop” .  The kids have learned how to choose good books, what a “just-right” book is, and how to think about their reading.  They are making good choices during independent reading, and writing great reflections in their reader’s notebooks.  We are off and running, and have had a great start to the year!
